The Holy Spirit Will Pray

 




Matthew 6:9-13

Pray then like this: “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your Kingdom come, your WILL be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER us from evil.”


During the ministry of Jesus…hundreds of followers wanted to find a meaningful way to reach the ear of God.  Most of them came from an assortment of different religions…where PRAYING to Idols…and offering up all kinds of different things to these false gods would be the only way to receive a blessing.  Need a good crop?  Pray to the Sun god.  Actually, they had a god for every need…or, want that they could every hope for…all they had to do is recite endless prayers…and for some…even sacrifice one of their children to their favorite god of the day.


Jesus knew their hearts and understood FULLY their concerns.  So He immediately gave them the perfect template of a PERFECT Prayer that was guaranteed to reach the ear of God…and have Him draw His undivided attention to them…IMMEDIATELY.


Sometimes as we shuffle through our chaotic life we sometimes don’t really even have the energy…let alone the perfect words to share with our Heavenly Father.  So…I have found myself simply PRAYING this perfect PRAYER that Jesus gave to us 2,000 years ago.  And you know what?  It’s just as POWERFUL as it was all those years ago when the King of Glory said, “Our Father…which are in Heaven…hallowed be Your Name.”

      Vic keeps me in line.   How’d you like a little death to add life to your party? There’s a new kid on the block. Fentanyl.  Back in the day James Brown lamented “King Heroin.” Fentanyl is the new Kool Aid. Jim Jones Kool Aid! Why in the world would anyone wanna invent something like that is beyond me. Hitler could have saved all that money on Zyklon B if He’d had fentanyl! A little dab’ll do ya? Try 1/500 th of a dab!   Now I know you kids out there are thinking I’m just an old “Fuddy Duddy,” but let me educate you. I’ve been in entertainment since 1969. Do the math. From Austin to Nashville, and I have been there, done that. In addition to that I was crushed between two cars in 1970 and had a legal, non-stop source of pain medication for years.
